Incoming: The Jupiter-Neptune Conjunction + the Virgo Full Moon (3/9 - 3/19/22)
Galactic Greetings,
Beloveds! It’s been a couple of weeks since my last forecast entry. I’m fortunate to report that I’ve been “good-busy.” To briefly recap, the heavens have been facilitating the final wrap-up in regards to ongoing and significant developments dating back to December 2021. By now, we’ve arrived at some conclusions which may bring a sense of peace or closure, because at the very least, we’ve grounded some giant-looming what-ifs.
I’d like to remind you that you can always check out my YouTube and IG for more cosmic updates. If I don’t get a chance to sit at my desk and write, there’s a good chance I’m still able to post on the go!
On a personal note, this past week I appeared for my very first in-person lecture since the start of the pandemic. I joined my local astrology group, LCAA, to discuss the eclipses of 2022, and the *upcoming eclipse paths* which will culminate over Russia and Ukraine. If you’re interested in hearing that lecture, you’re in luck! I’ll be presenting it for NCGR-LA on March 20th. Check my event page for details on how to sign up.
I’m also THRILLED to announce that my course, The Power of Progressions recently concluded. Hot off the coattails, I had a surprise opportunity to join Chris Brennan on the famous The Astrology Podcast to discuss what happens when a planet stations by secondary progression. Be sure to check out Episode 342 to learn more!
This week presents a chance for me to discuss a very important transit which will set an important theme for April: The Jupiter-Neptune conjunction!
Let’s get into it!
Astrology Watch:
Mercury enters Pisces, 3/9
Sun conjoins Neptune, 3/13
Mercury sextile Uranus, 3/17
Virgo Full Moon, 3/18
Venus square Uranus, 3/19
Mercury in Pisces (3/9 – 3/27)
Mercury quickens their pace, preparing to make a beeline through the cosmic ocean of Pisces this year. While Mercury indeed holds its detriment in the sign of Pisces, fuzzing linear logic and preferring allegory over objectivity, Mercury in Pisces is sublimely poetic, intuitive and creatively linguistic. We may prefer the scenic route over the next couple of weeks.
While a breakfast of scrambled letters might feel counterproductive, consider the evocative powers of the poet, the parable of the mage, or the stirring heartfelt outpourings of a hopeless romantic. Mercury in Pisces may be messy, but she is real.
Contrary to what the traditionally Mercurial Table of Rulerships may insist, Mercury in Pisces is a gifted wordsmith. In Jupiter’s sign, we find it plain to simply get to the point, preferring a melodic accompaniment. As Brene Brown often points out, language has its limits when we attempt to translate the depth and range of emotions of the heart. While Mercury is in Pisces, it’s an opportunity to listen compassionately, brave linguistic liberties and to communicate from the heart.
Sun conjunct Neptune, 3/13
The Sun’s union with Neptune will inaugurate a dominating astrological signature to endure through the spring season. The Sun is the first planet to bridge together the energies of Jupiter and Neptune, who are building toward an exact conjunction on April 12th, 2022. From here on out, we will tap into a mushrooming glitter cloud of expectation – ranging from hope, fantasy and ecstastic divine merging toward the opposite pole of anxious overwhelm and propagandic intoxication. Jupiter and Neptune are here to bring the hype in one form or another.
Jupiter and Neptune have much in common and its easy to confound the two. Jupiter is expansive, hopeful, spiritual and spatial, encouraging us to dream bigger and long for more. Neptune is transcendental; like VR, inducing a somatic merging with the minds vision, and diffusing definitions of reality beyond what we thought was possible.
With Jupiter, hope is a powerful supplement – the rainbow after the rainclouds, the gratitude amidst the loss, the hopeful promise of renewal after a breakup, the celebration because we made it this far... Jupiter returns a welcome wind to our sails. Sure, Jupiter can overpromise, and encourage us to keep chasing exponential desires, but Neptune intoxicates us with an alternate reality. If we aren’t careful, Neptune jeopardizes sustainability with the allure of fantasy – a world ungrounded in reality, churning out illusions of grandeur. While Jupiter imbibes us with insatiability, Neptune can create escapism. Both planets encourage us to chase the rabbit, but only one leads us down a psychotropic rabbit hole.
Jupiter reminds us to count our blessings and to focus on the bright side, while Neptune is a hypnotic trance, often in denial of alternate possibilities – or worse, a self-destructive mission to return to source. Like a trippy version of Alice in Wonderland, Neptune journey’s can be vivid, psychotropic, ecstatic and divine, but they can also be alienating, frightening and dark. Neptune is art.
Pisces is a dual sign, which means that we will see a schism of how this transit plays out.
We will see the magical, heart-opening, elevating glitter clouds abound – elevating compassion, empathy, artistry and falling in love with life again after what we’ve all been through. This transit boasts a romantic sense of unity, bolstered by the shared tragedies we’ve shouldered together. I imagine this transit will pose as a cosmic mirror for the emergence of our third winter/spring quarantine. With numbers continuing to go down, I’m sure that a huge chunk of the population is ready to reunite with celebratory gusto! Honestly, the astrology of April looks orgiastic.
One thing that Jupiter and Neptune share is openness, boundlessness and even a lack of boundary altogether. But will the optimism and sensation of magical unity cloud our judgement? Will we abandon all caution and find ourselves in the same situation as we did the last time we did away with masks? Will this transit tell a tale of reckless abandon? I sure hope not, but who knows. Saturn is still in Aquarius, after all.
Jupiter-Neptune conjunctions are rare. They are a once-every-14-year occurrence. Thus, with this particular union occurring in a sign where Jupiter posts residence, and where Neptune feels quite cozy, it indeed feels like it could be the heart-booming celebration of a lifetime (the Woodstock of our generation?). Could the pandemic finally be coming to a close? Either pathway is quite viable, and may depend on global location.
On that flip, the Jupiter-Neptune combo can represent a divine longing and divine discontent against heavily macro issues facing the planet right now – a pandemic with no definite end in sight, inflation (big Jupiter-Neptune vibes here), and environmental catastrophe. The crisis between Russia and Ukraine is affecting the entire globe economically; and speaking of hope, many folks see the sanctions on Russia as a possible fastlane for the green infrastructure shifts which could potentially save us all. I can only imagine how this Piscean schism is playing out for those living closer to the crisis – the overwhelming joy of reuniting with family and the alienation of living in Russia, whose technological connections to the outside world continue to dwindle.
Jupiter-Neptune combinations can certainly carry the flavor of propaganda – a perfect celestial metaphor for drinking the kool-aid. Faith can carry us through the tough times, but blind faith is where we can get into trouble. As the saying goes, you should never leave your drink unattended at the bar.
Virgo Full Moon, 3/18/22, 27°40’ Virgo
I’ll never forget the urgent advice circulating around the 2020 Virgo Full Moon: wash your hands – a grassroots attempt to gain a handle on a viciously spiraling situation. The instinct to create order in the face of the unknown is a human survival skill. The Virgo Full Moon arrives amidst surrender-and-flow Pisces season. Trusting the process balances the tendency to fret unnecessarily – and can help us settle into an ultimately yin state of receptivity. The Virgo Full Moon is here to remind us that it’s important to find the balance between surrendering to what’s beyond our control and creating order where we can. Yes, the world seems crazier than ever right now, but the Virgo Full Moon wants to remind us that we have agency to actualize our dreams to fruition
Personally, I instinctually tidy amidst the ocean of children’s toys, but I’ve learned to stop and play and be present with my daughter’s wonder. We can always clean later once the tornado goes to bed!
The Full Moon is ruled by adverse, though dreamy, Mercury in Pisces, reflecting an overarching state of overwhelm. It’s challenging to convey the complexity of emotion we feel – must we thoroughly explain every layer or can we just vibe? Mercury holds a sextile to Uranus, offering gifts of ingenuity, the ability to piecemeal cosmic synchronicities, dream interpretation and the potential for the wisdom of the heart to illuminate us. Surprises are possible, and while they may seem inconvenient at first, it may supply the nudge we needed to move in a slightly unexpected direction.
The Full Moon in Virgo forms a resourceful trine to Pluto, pulling us up by our bootstraps to rise to the occasion. So much is changing, and while stressful, many of us are recognizing this era as a portal of possibility. Pluto seeks to transform what is not only outworn but rotting. The rising gas prices just might be our ticket to streamlining renewable energy – a necessary infrastructural and paradigmatic shift in the face of ecological crisis.
Additionally, the Virgo Full Moon serves as the apex of a “Thor’s Hammer,” with the Venus-Uranus square at the base. Certainly, this aspect is pointing toward finances – particularly toward the sanctions on Russia, its effects on Russian citizens and those of the global economy. Uranus brings some unexpected surprises – perhaps a cyber revolt? Will Russia leave the world wide web? I also foresee dramatic shifts in the pricing of various commodities. For more info on this aspect, read on below!
Venus square Uranus, 3/19
As previously mentioned in my full moon synopsis, this configuration is certain to emerge financially. Venus crunches through the technological sign of Aquarius, while Uranus invites rebellion and high-voltage surprises (a true Molotov cocktail). Mars follows closely behind Venus, antagonizing the situation by adding additional fuel to the fire. This configuration seems to highlight the sanctions on Russia (technological warfare), its effect on Russian citizens, and those upon the global economy.
I feel that Venus’ enclosure strongly represents the experience of Russian citizens quarantined from various technological resources and the sanctions threatening to tank their economy. Venus’ aspect to Uranus amidst this enclosure feels like a jailbreak attempt. We will likely see some sort of cyber revolt or max exodus from the world wide web.
We will also see some extreme pendulum swings on the financial front. With the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Pisces intensifying as we move closer to their exact union on 4/12, I wonder if this configuration will enlarge the issue of inflation, unexpectedly skyrocketing prices of certain commodities. We are already seeing a gallon of gas sell for over $5.
Abundance can have its downsides (more money, more problems!). When a tomato ripens on the vine for too long – they burst, inviting insects to come live inside. One person’s misfortune is another’s jackpot.
On a personal level, Venus’ square to Uranus may be an attempt to break a pattern that has grown particularly confining – whether it’s personally financial or having to do with a relationship. Relationships have been a huge theme for us already this year (thanks to Venus’ retrograde), so if you’ve been working on smoothing things out and have been unable to ascertain peace, the square to Uranus represents a sudden lifeboat opportunity toward freedom. If you are in a long-term relationship, this aspect invites you to spice things up. Cover your bases and wild out. You deserve it!
