2025: Astrology's Epochal Year
You may have heard that the astrology of 2025 will be one of the most significant years in astrology within our lifetimes. Honestly? These claims are legitimate. 2025 will go down as a historical epochal shift in the eyes of astrologers – and perhaps even to the world.
But why? 2025 features several significant planetary shifts.
Planets with shorter orbits (Mercury, Venus and Mars) typically change signs every 2 -8 weeks; these changes are frequent and rhythmic, allowing them to cycle through the zodiac rapidly. The Sun moves through the same sections of the sky annually, and the Moon, monthly. Jupiter moves a little slower, remaining in each zodiac sign for about one year. Jupiter takes 12 years to cycle through the entire zodiac, which isn’t a terribly long time, but long enough for astrologers to appreciate the annual sign change as a special moment. Jupiter’s annual sign change helps set the tone for each year. In 2025, Jupiter will move from Gemini into Cancer.
Saturn’s sign change is even more significant than Jupiter’s, spending about 3 years in each zodiac sign. Saturn’s sign change is noticeable – so much so that it shapes our collective experience of the world in 3-year mini-epochs. Saturn’s sign shift facilitates a collective mood change and highlights new issues which we will collectively face. In total, it takes Saturn 29 years to traverse the entire zodiac. For astrologers, it’s a total milestone to observe Saturn’s journey through all 12 zodiac signs, and fortunately, it’s doable! In 2025, Saturn will shift from Pisces into Aries. While this is certainly very exciting news in the astro-world, there are grander stories afoot.
Beyond Saturn are the outer planets: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto – each with much longer orbits, 84 years, 165 years and 240 years respectively. It takes Uranus 7 years to travel through each zodiac sign and Neptune, 14 years. Pluto’s orbit varies from 12 years in Scorpio at its perihelion and 32 years in Taurus at its aphelion. The outer planets’ time spent within each zodiac sign helps to define the spirit of the age. It’s always a very big deal when any of the outer planets change signs. This year, all three outer planets will journey within new zodiac signs.
Dipping its toes in and out during 2023 and 2024, Pluto officially anchored into Aquarius in November of 2024. After anticipating this shift for a while, 2025 will be the first full calendar year in which we get to observe Pluto in Aquarius firsthand. This is a very big deal. For many astrologers, this is their first time witnessing Pluto change signs at all. In 2025, both Neptune and Uranus will also change signs! Rarely do we see such powerful outer planetary shifts overlapping at the very same time. It’s a major production if any slow-moving outer planet changes zodiac signs, let alone all three trans-Saturnian planets at once.
On top of the planetary shifts of Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter, 2025 also features the lunar nodes shifting signs – a change which occurs every 18 months. As if that weren’t enough, the year kicks off with additional exciting planetary phenomena: a Mars retrograde followed immediately by a Venus retrograde. It feels like a lot – and it is. We will never see this many outer planet shifts corresponding together within our lifetimes.
And yet, we aren’t doing ourselves any favors by catastrophizing. The world isn’t ending – and while an extraterrestrial invasion doesn’t sound so bad at this point, let’s break it down to better understand the incoming cosmic weather. We’ll cover the highlights of each planetary shift to shed some light on what’s really going down.
Pluto in Aquarius: 3/23/2023 – 1/19/2044
Leaving behind Pluto in Capricorn (2008-2024), an era defined by exposing corruption within societal infrastructure, Pluto in Capricorn is responsible for cultivating deep distrust in The System. The Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street movements arose from deep dissatisfaction with government. People began to call out corruption and exploitation of the working class. Following the housing market of 2008, many Americans lost their jobs and their homes while Wall Street was bailed out, birthing the chant, “We are the 99%!” which drew attention to massive wealth inequalities. This chasm of wealth only worsened as Pluto progressed further through the sign of the Sea-Goat. 2020 alone gave way for the richest 10 people to double their fortunes, while many millions of people are still struggling to rebuild what they lost. And it’s not just the ruling class which has become suspect – it’s all ordering systems from the food we eat and the water we drink. Oh and don’t forget The Patriarchy. Conspiracy theories have gone mainstream in our post-2020 world and mass distrust is absolutely the culprit. Pluto in Capricorn brought our very own society into question, peering deeper into the root systems of why we live the way we live and who is responsible for pulling the strings.
As Pluto moves into Aquarius, the water-bearer, the magnifying glass of scrutiny shifts toward entities which are becoming even more powerful than any government – Big Tech. This last election cycle proved that if you are rich enough, you can simply purchase the election and earn billions in profits. Several astrologers anticipated the involvement of a 3rd party candidate, but who knew it was Elon Musk all along? Aquarius represents The Outsider. Wherever Pluto moves in the zodiac is destined to gather momentous force and at the same time, come under the magnifying glass of scrutiny. Pluto in Aquarius will facilitate the summit of AI’s infinite and life altering capabilities – as well as its unchecked power. Pluto always creates a monster. The zodiac sign which Pluto transits represents the monsters we fear and where we are suspicious of giving our power away. The Monster of Pluto in Aquarius will be the algorithm – a powerful entity which can shape the way we think and feel – and even influence our actions. The war of Pluto in Aquarius will be to think for ourselves – yet it will be vital for the people to band together to overpower Big Brother.
Pluto in Aquarius heralds a brimming technological age which will revolutionize life as we know it. Rivaling this excitement will be legitimate collective fear of how AI technology influences our psyche. And just how invasive AI probes into our personal lives. How much of our data is being harvested and who has access to it? Could the AI know me better than I know myself? Social media giants have offered access to their platforms for “free,” at the price of eavesdropping, access to our cameras and photos. We have accepted this in exchange for entertainment – until now. We will see the collective paranoia shift away from the government and more toward the tech lords, who are actively reshaping the building blocks of our culture. We will also witness movements which resist and aim to outsmart the unchecked powers of Big Tech.
I’ve written at length about Pluto in Aquarius here, here and here – and I’ve also discussed it on my YouTube channel and with Sabrina Monarch on her podcast, The Magic of the Spheres.
Neptune in Aries: 3/30/2025 – 3/23/2039
Departing from a mystical sojourn through ethereal Pisces (2011 – 2025), an era which turned more people onto astrology, tarot, and yoga, Neptune in Pisces encouraged us to pursue our own unique connection with the divine. Dissolving the guardrails, Neptune in Pisces helped spirituality become more accessible. Magical Creators began sharing bite-sized astrology forecasts, equinox tarot spreads and simple meditations. From YouTube yoga to “The Instagram Witch” and the “TikTok Astrologer, DIY divinity was born. People realized how easy it was to create their own unique practice which works for themselves; it didn’t have to cost anything to learn or practice. However, this also raised some ethical issues. Now that anyone named Brandon could call themselves a shaman, the boomerang of Neptune in Pisces brought about necessary conversations about cultural appropriation and respect for traditions. Following the yoga boom, we also saw mass exposes of fraud and sexual abuse from within the industry. In the astrology community, we also discussed the importance of training and the adherence to ethical standards.
Beyond the magic, Neptune in Pisces also supported more widespread acceptance of alternative medicine and plant medicine. From the legalization of cannabis to harnessing psilocybin to treat PTSD, to journeys to the jungle to sip ayahuasca – more people turned toward tinctures and diets which could prevent additional visits to the doctor.
We can expect a sharp contrast when Neptune enters Aries. Trading chaturangas for kettlebell squats, personal trainers will become the new yoga teachers of the era. Fitness will be the new high and a symbol of desirability. Fitness will reflect the alluring characteristics of the Neptune in Aries era: strength, sweat, determination and defiance. Yes, you heard me, defiance. People who have time to get ripped and eat healthy typically have a lot of free time – a status symbol in today’s time-impoverished, overworked world. Additionally, in today’s climate, the pursuit of health is an act of defiance within a system in which sickness is more profitable.
Neptune in Aries applauds the solider and the rebel – the bold, outspoken, brave enough to challenge the system anti-hero. Neptune in Aries praises the risk-takers, the trailblazers, and the adventurers. Tradition isn’t a good enough reason to stay on the path we’re on. The old scripts don’t work, and no one cares anymore. Caution to the wind, we aspire toward new and better ways. Neptune in Aries often brings a crisis of leadership – who will lead? Neptune in Aries brings rebellions. In fact, this is the Neptune return of the confederate rebel flag. Indeed, within one day of Neptune’s ingress into Aries, the American Civil War broke out. Despite the Confederacy’s very brief existence, the reverence for the rebel flag persists in some pockets of the nation to this day. Neptune has that effect. I am anticipating the new brand of MAGA Americana Camp isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Neptune in Aries will cast a new aura of influence upon fashion, arts and culture. Say goodbye to the Neptune in Pisces pillowy, flowy garb and say hello to utilitarian wear and track suits. Angularity is in, tailored shapes are in, and shoulder pads? Probably making a comeback. Ready-to-wear clothing was popularized under Neptune in Aries one cycle ago – as well as starched collars. Music will likely become more experimental, and a new wave of punk will likely emerge. While the Uranus-Pluto trine will make way for a more chaotic social media environment, Neptune in Aries will invite people to thrill seek offline. Hiking is in. Off-roading is in. Becoming radicalized is in. Defiance is in. Anger is justified and passivity is out.

Uranus in Gemini: 7/7/25 – 5/22/2033
Wherever Uranus transits by sign is where we see acts of liberations, invention and innovation. Uranus in Taurus (2018 – April 25th, 2026) has been a gift to the beauty industry and a rollercoaster for the food and restaurant industries. And yet, folks with food allergies have tremendously benefited from this transit. Uranus in Taurus brought greater collective awareness to different diet restrictions and lifestyles. As the transit closes out, no matter if your diet is paleo, gluten-free or low fodmap, you now have more options available when you go out to eat.
Uranus is experimental and not everything it creates will be permanent (just like micro-blading). Uranus in Taurus introduced us to wild beauty trends such as microneedling and popularized fillers again. Thanks to Uranus in Taurus, eyebrow, lash and nail artists are booked and busy. On a parallel plane, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction brought the “Femininomenon” wave of newer female artists who embrace their sexuality and femininity. Uranus in Taurus is also responsible for the crypto boom.
Like Pluto, Uranus moves into an air sign this year. Air is the element associated with invention and intellect. Air is fast, innovative and technological. As these astrological super-giants relate via an air trine over the next 7 years, the potential of AI will accelerate rapidly. Biologically, it shall be overwhelming. It will take us time to catch up with the swift evolution of technological capability. Gemini, the twins, will produce greater varieties of media, gadgets and tablets. As we’ve seen with Jupiter in Gemini, we can expect a splintering of social media and communication platforms. With mass distrust in media, we can expect this environment to become experimental, defy expectations and challenge the status quo. On the plus, podcasts aren’t going anywhere, but on the downside, we’ll need to be more savvy about who’s views are bought.
As Gemini holds a connection with early education, we can expect new educational paradigms to emerge. Due to the increasing role technology plays in our lives, we are seeing a decline in children’s literacy. Will we see creative incentives to preserve and protect such vital skills? As I write this article, a new AI companion appears and asks me if I need help. The same is true on all the apps I regularly use. This will only compile new stresses for teachers striving to grade papers. On the positive end, AI is helping information become even more accessible through its ability to translate. I was shocked when I provided the link to my 8-hour workshop and the AI transcribed the entire thing in mere seconds. One thing we really should be concerned about is not just the ethos of plagiarism, but energy. Perhaps that’s one major equation this technological era should aim to solve.
Another important layer for some of us? We stumble upon yet another Uranus return of the United States. Many people are nervous about this transit as every time Uranus visits Gemini, the United States finds itself involved in a major war. Uranus is in our 7th house of enemies and allies, after all. First there was the Revolutionary War, then the American Civil war, then WWII. When astrologers began anticipating this transit en masse a few years ago, it was difficult to imagine that we would go to war, but not anymore. Instead, I wonder with whom. Only adding to the likelihood of this possibility is Neptune’s return to Aries, a transit with the potential to romanticize the heroism of battle.
Lunar Nodes in Pisces/VIrgo: 1/11/2025 - 7/26/2026
The lunar nodes move retrograde through the zodiac, spending about 18 months in each zodiac sign. The lunar nodes represent the point of intersection between the ecliptic (the apparent path of the Sun) and the path of the Moon. When lunations occur near the lunar nodes, we experience eclipses. Even though the north node didn’t enter Pisces until 1/11/2025, we’ve already seen one eclipse in Pisces. We will see our first in Virgo on March 14th, 2025. September’s eclipse season will be the first fully entrenched in the polarity. By then we will have a better understanding of what we will be working with, but already by now, the tensions of the Virgo-Pisces polarity are quietly arising in the collective.
Virgo-Pisces highlights the contrast between faith and reason. How often do we sideline our intuitive voice in favor of the mind? Virgo is the problem-solver, and yes, the worrier. Sometimes we worry too much, feverishly looping ourselves into a tangled ball of yarn, losing sight of the needle’s eye all too quickly. This is where faith (Pisces) comes in. When there is no more research or planning to be done, all we can do is trust that the matter is in the universe’s hands. Conversely, how often do we shrug off due diligence in favor of “it will work itself out!” only to feel disappointed that we hadn’t planned better. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and avoid facing an issue head-on. This is where Virgo, the puzzle-solver, can shine.
The Virgo-Pisces axis yearns for the ideal. Virgo aspires for perfection through its ability to notice, inquire or elevate their skills. Meanwhile, Pisces yearns for the fantasy place, divine love and softness – life shouldn’t be so difficult or cruel! Both signs aim to make the world a better place through compassion and service. While the eclipses activate this axis, many of us will begin to take deeper notice of our relationship with this polarity. The eclipses will help illuminate and rebalance these elements in our lives.
What should we do?
First, take note of the houses in your natal chart where Virgo and Pisces occupy – this is the next area of life where you can expect to see major developments, course corrections and surprises take place. Think back to 2015 and 2016 – as this is the last time we saw eclipses in this part of our chart. Second, go read Brene Brown’s The Gifts of Imperfection or listen to her audiobook, The Power of Vulnerability. It’s required reading for this era!
Saturn in Aries: 5/24/2025 - 4/12/2028
Neptune in Aries is in for a reality check when Saturn crashes the party. While the exact conjunction of Saturn and Neptune will occur on 2/20/26, the two planets will be co-present for 3 more years and continue to mutually influence one another as they have in Pisces. Neptune creates an enchanting vortex of possibility, while Saturn is the material. Together, utopian visions are born – which is exactly why this conjunction often coincides with the rise of totalitarianism and religious conservativism. In our personal lives, this aspect can be very powerful for materializing a vision you value from your spiritual core. Now presents an opportune window to actualize your dreams.
On the flip, Saturn pierces the illusions and reveals Neptune’s fallacies. Richard Tarnas, author of Cosmos and Psyche, highlights this aspect’s correspondence with tremendous collective disappointment, societal afflictions and low morale. It couldn’t be more obvious that we are already there. As Saturn gains on Neptune at the tail end of Pisces, our redlining morale is revealed through the collective deification of Luigi Mangione, who assassinated Healthcare United CEO Brian Thompson. Most Americans would agree that murder is wrong, and yet, they are also exhausted from the economic violence of the American healthcare system which happens to also kill tens of thousands of people every year. The support for Luigi demonstrates significant system failure and depleted morale.
Simultaneously, Tarnas offers hope for this transit. From the rock bottom of our societal disappointments, we will look within and rebuild our convictions. While we’ve lost faith in so much – what can we still stand upon? What can we truly believe in and live for? This is a crucial time of soul-building.
Tarnas also highlights a growing tension between the religious and the secular. Likely, the fight for reproductive freedom will continue as the line blurs between Church and State. I for one would love to see churches pay taxes just like everyone else.
But what about Saturn in Aries alone? In a way, it’s unable to act alone. The Saturn-Neptune conjunction will define the period. Saturn is considered “fallen” in Aries, which is a position of debility. In Aries, there isn’t much use for Saturn’s wisdom, as traditional handbooks seem to fail us at this time. Similarly, Saturn’s penchant for order also duds when the times call for experimentation and challenging the rules. Similar to Neptune in Aries, Saturn in Aries echoes a definite crisis in leadership and systemic order. As Aries is the place where the Sun (the leader) exalts, we can expect falls from grace, or even significant declining fates of leaders. We would also expect to see the rise of an underdog. As Neptune in Aries nudges us toward rugged risk-taking leaders, this further supports the rise of the outsider who doesn’t follow the traditional scripts. This could be amazing or terrible, but probably both. While things may feel chaotic here, it also makes sense. AI threatens to make many jobs obsolete. It also aims to reshape our society. In some ways, Saturn in Aries (along with Neptune) clears the slate of possibility.
Jupiter in Cancer: 6/9/2025 - 6/30/2026
Perhaps the best news of all is Jupiter’s transit through Cancer. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer — a sign where Jupiter thrives. This planet of abundance, celebration, spirituality and prosperity is in high position to deliver blessings in Cancer. When Jupiter was last in Pisces (another sign it thrives in), many people experienced a burgeoning prosperity – people sold their homes for double what they bought them for, people had more money in their pockets – and yet, prices skyrocketed for everything, which leaves us where we are now with Jupiter in Gemini: a recession. Jupiter is in detriment in Gemini, where we have a diminished sense of abundance. This was true of Jupiter fallen in Capricorn in 2020 when we weren’t allowed to hug. Jupiter in Cancer may bring a return of collective prosperity. One can only hope that something will stimulate the economy, interest rates will drop and the housing market will adjust. Cancer is a sign associated with the nest, after all. What makes me nervous is who will become wealthier. Will this transit bring the first trillionaire? Perhaps. Another thing to watch for with exalted planets is where they can go to excess. Jupiter in Cancer could further embolden religious movements and their political influence.
On a personal level, we can absolutely look forward to the blessings Jupiter will bring in our natal charts. Jupiter in Cancer thrives in its ability to nurture and provide, to celebrate the simple act of being together and in the safety and security of a trusted group. Scorpio and Cancer ascendants beware: this is a highly fertile transit! But for all of us, may Jupiter in Cancer bring us increased creativity, togetherness and a sense of abundance in the intangible. Jupiter in Cancer reminds us that true abundance is immaterial – it’s relational.
Hopefully this explains the 2025 hype!
