The Primordial Space between Eclipses: May 30th - June 5th

Liminal Libations, All!

We find ourselves this week between two eclipses. You can still book your mini eclipse reading with me through the end of this week. I loved Kelly Surtees’ analogy for this period between eclipses; she referred to this time as being in an “eclipse tunnel.” Tunnels, like caves, are allegories of transformation. We enter with a bit of trepidation, and either we choose it, or it chooses us.

Driving through the Holland Tunnel, for example, the lights flicker like an odd horror film, sound is distorted, and you may have no clue that you are in fact driving under water. Excitment and terror go hand in hand. Relief meets us on the other side, returning the normal flow of light back to our brains. It takes a moment to readjust. The thing is that once you are in it, you kinda have to commit. And that’s where we are now! The eclipses are rewiring our perception, and when we emerge on the other side, life will look different for many of us. My advice is to surrender, align and listen. Allow the eclipses to reveal.

This morning, I watched as the Moon turned red and then completely black. As it transformed, more stars emerged in the sky, previously invisible. I witnessed a similar phenomenon during the total solar eclipse of 2017. As the Sun darkened, I could see Mercury and Venus dancing around the Sun. It was one of the most surreal experiences of my life. Eclipses are here to disrupt the normal flow of information and to reveal door-opening keys in the process.

This week, we have some wonderfully supportive trines to look forward to, as well as Venus’ lovely Cancer ingress. However, there is one aspect which should be handled with great care – the volitile Mars-Pluto opposition at the end of our week. Let’s get into it!

Sun conjoins north node 5/31 – 6/1

The Sun’s alignment with the north node is always a crucial point of eclipse season. This is often when pivotal realizations come to light and the action goes down. We can also expect to see themes of leadership emphasized on the world stage – for better or for worse! The Sun represents divinity and the north node is a super charger. The Sun on the north node can be a spiritual super charge. It represents divinity; we are all Creators and we all carry a spark of the divine. This is a time for tapping into your own radiance – but at the same time releasing ego. The north node has a devouring quality which can knock out vitality, or illusions of grandeur. Those of us born on eclipses know that it’s not always about us, but it’s about the contribution to the whole. In the sign of Gemini, important revelations will come to light today by way of message, media, or conversation and perhaps stir up a little bit of controversy.

Mars trine Neptune, 5/30-31

Softening our edge to receive connection…

Mars in Cancer ultimately wants to protect. The crustacean is a true softie on the inside, but shelters within a tough outer shell. For good reason. Resilience may have been hard won for each of us in many ways, but Mars’ trine to Neptune is a cosmic invitation to lay our weaponry down. Notice where your guards are up unnecessarily. This can be an especially powerful juncture of alchemy between family members with a history of past hurts. Forgiving doesn’t mean that you have to forget, but it can help us to release those Cancerian hoarding pincers and open up to more opportunities for embrace. Mars trine to Neptune sees the potential healing in allowing yourself to wear your heart on your sleeve more often again and the magic that transcends when you forgive the past and allow yourself to try again.

Venus enters Cancer, 6/2

Venus in Cancer lends the importance of emotional connection in our social rituals. Find your friends who feel like home and cozy up! Riding on the coat tails of Mars’ trine to Neptune, Venus exits flirty, charming, social butterfly Gemini and cozies up in homebody, emo Cancer for a true love fest. With Venus in Cancer, we are ready to root down and chow down with the crew. Make plans to break bread with cherished friends, family or even familiars from your past (Mercury is retrograde after all!). Venus in Cancer is the ultimate time of year for picnics abundant with homemade food and storytelling.

If you were playing the field in Gemini, Venus’ ingress in Cancer may invite you to snuggle a little closer. Venus in Cancer is extremely doting and thoughtful and aims to make memories we can cherish down the line. It’s the little gestures which say, “I thought of you” that can truly win us over right now. Venus in Cancer wants us all to take a break from bopping around and settle into the rituals that nourish us on a soul level. We want to root down with others who envision hearth-tending in a similar way as we do.

Sun trine Saturn, 6/3

As the eclipses continue to distort the lights and reveal new dimensions of reality, the Sun meets up with Saturn in Aquarius to help us make sense of it all. Saturn brings the element of grounding and resourcefulness to the table, allowing us to take honest stock of what has been revealed and how to troubleshoot any dilemmas. This is an incredibly supportive aspect to have between two eclipses, where life seems more confusing than usual. Clarity and innovation help temper the disorienting vapor emanating from last week’s truth bombs. This is a space of learning. Of seeing. Of understanding. It’s also a space for planning how we move forward…eventually.

Saturn in Aquarius has been emphasizing humanitarianism, technology and science – in many ways singing the praises hereof, and alternatively, highlighting the fears and resistance to these things. Indeed, technology will always have its limitations and we are all ready to ditch Zoom for good. Saturn recently stationed retrograde. The Sun’s trine will invite us to spend more time contemplating what innovation and social accountability look like for us. There’s another layer of understanding to be revealed, and we should keep digging a little more. Saturn in Aquarius can highlight rigidity of the mind. The upcoming solar eclipse in Gemini will offer a critical counterbalancing posture to the collective framework of understanding.

Venus trine Jupiter, 6/3

Fertility, sensuality and soul level connection.

Fertility, sensuality and soul level connection. Our two benefics combine forces in a heartswelling water trine, offering fertile ground for creativity, abundance of nourishing connection and good vibes. If you’ve never tasted the nectar of the Gods, rise up, for ambrosia is served. What we have here is a mutual reception of the most divine! As if it weren’t juicy enough for Jupiter to occupy its own watery domicile, but Venus and Jupiter cozy up in each other’s signs of exaltation, further amplifying the richness and abundant beauty of this trine.

If you’re hoping to get pregnant, or if you’re desiring a creative recharge, this is a planetary alignment you absolutely want to tap into. The nature of water is to merge and combine; it is the element most conducive toward the proliferation of new life. Trust your intuition now. Tap into your energetic flow. We are all Creators in this life, so even if you don’t think that you have a creative outlet perse, know that every little thing you choose to do or say is a creative act.

This is aspect only comes around every 12 or 24 years. The last time we had this aspect was on August 10th, 1998 and the next time will be in 2033. I know I’ve got a candle I’ve been saving with this aspect in mind. Compounding the dreaminess, the Moon conjoins glamourous Neptune in Pisces today, amplifying potential for otherworldly encounters. May the floodgates open in the most purifying, true, heart-opening of ways. For this is yet another aspect which begs us to let each other in.

Mercury square Neptune, 6/5

This is the second exact aspect between Mercury and Neptune. Get the rest of the details from last week’s forecast here or in video format here.

Mars opposite Pluto, 6/5

While we’ve enjoyed a string of gorgeous heart-opening and clarifying aspects this week, we must remember that it’s still eclipse season and the world is still in a complicated space. Mars’ opposition to Pluto is that reminder. At its worst, this aspect can be incredibly destructive, volatile and venomous. Poison which has festered in the belly for far too long has fermented rank and bilious, now begging for eruption. Often times, Mars-Pluto aspects correspond with violence and demonstration in the world. As conflict rages between Israel and Palestine, tensions continue to percolate worldwide, adding gasoline to ongoing racial and political tensions. Combine anger and hatred with how deprived of contact we’ve been and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. This pandemic is said to have spurred one of the largest mental health crises we’ve ever seen, and we are only seeing the crest of it. Let’s be real. Mars’ opposition to Pluto is when the putrid boil blows.

On an individual level, we need to handle this aspect with care. Are you on the verge of a breakdown? Have you been holding resentment somewhere for far too long? This is a good time to check in with your therapist, to go to a boxing class or to find an avenue for controlled release. It needs to go somewhere else. Find someone who can hold space for you without judgement – or a garage where you can safely smash glass. While it might not be the smoothest of expressions, the good thing about this aspect is that its an opportunity for us to come clean, releasing long held emotional pain, resentment, anger and fear. It’s important to remember that we want to release it – not give it to someone else.

Whew. What a week! Hope it’s both cathartic and ecstatic for you!
