On 6/23/21, Britney Spears delivered an impassioned plea to the court to terminate the conservatorship which has dictated her every move for the past 13 years. Since, I’ve seen a wave of thoughtful astrological commentary quickly pointing toward transiting Saturn to Britney’s Moon – a notoriously difficult transit often corresponding with loneliness, depression and the realization that one’s needs are not being adequately nourished. Congruently, Uranus squares Britney’s Moon, impelling a wild urge for freedom and total release from bondage. The polar energies of structural Saturn and sovereign Uranus play tug-of-war with Britney’s Moon – the part of our chart which governs safety, intimacy and connection. Overall, this is a crossroads (heh) in Britney’s life wherein she will devise a totally new set of boundaries within her personal life, her career (Moon ruling her Cancer midheaven) and her family. As Britney’s Moon lives in her natal 5th house, I’m certain that her children are a huge motivating factor for her to finally stand up to her father. The Saturn/Uranus square represents the tension between the current hierarchal order on her estate and her human desire to finally break free.

Before we get to the other major transits, we need to discuss Britney’s progressions! They are WILD! Secondary Progressions are one of my favorite predictive tools because they are so vividly accurate. Britney’s chart is a phenomenal example of the true power of progressions. Officially known as “secondary progressions,” this predictive technique encapsulates the planetary motions from the first 90 days of life and translates them into a system of symbolic time wherein 1 day = 1 year. Progressions are not only enigmatic in their function, but they possess profound accuracy. If you want to learn more about progressions, consider studying with me in early 2022!

Yesterday, Britney Spears delivered her shocking testimony regarding the oppressive reality of her conservatorship in which family members and attorneys cruelly benefit from her bondage. This testimony was heard exactly one day before the Capricorn Full Moon at 3°27’ Capricorn – within one degree of Britney’s IC at 2°5’ Capricorn. The Full Moon serves to illuminate the reality of Britney’s private life and the criminal entrapment masterminded by her father. In astrology, the IC represents a most personal point of the chart, governing family, heritage, one’s roots, the past and one’s private life.

This Full Moon is also an activation of the 12/26/19 eclipse at 4°06’ Capricorn. If you remember, this was the eclipse which premeditated the pandemic – the time when Britney’s core fanbase had enough time on their hands to piece together Britney’s cryptic Instagram messages and to launch the Free Britney movement. Eclipses conjunct the axes of the chart correspond with some of the most pivotal events punctuating a person’s life. This is an incredibly powerful time in Britney’s life when we can expect to see major shifts and developments in her story.

4°33’ Capricorn is also the degree of Britney’s most recent progressed new moon – a potent place in the chart where another 30-year cycle of development is reseeded. We only ever get two or three of these important progressed new moons in our lives. This cycle was initiated in 2006 in Britney’s 4th house – a cycle clearly tied to her family, her foundation, her private life, safety, security and ultimately, a cycle centered around getting in touch with her true inner self – her soul. Interestingly, Britney’s progressed new moon was also an eclipse! This is the EXACT same eclipse cycle happening in 2019, demonstrated by the repetition of zodiacal degrees within the same sign. Notice the closeness of degrees from the 12/26/19 eclipse and Britney’s progressed new moon eclipse degree – they are the same! The unprecedented conditions around Britney’s conservatorship feels especially important now, recognizing that eclipses are considered harbingers of fated events and ultimately, soul growth and evolution - both on an individual and collective level. There are so, so many important layers to Britney’s story.

To understand the present, we need to look backwards. We also need to devote special attention to what’s going on with Venus and Pluto both by progressions and by transit. Venus deals with money, and Pluto deals with control, abuse, manipulation, and power.

After her accelerated rise to stardom, Britney’s momentum suddenly begins to stagger. Britney marries Kevin Federline in 2004, becomes pregnant, and then becomes pregnant again. Britney suffered a postpartum breakdown, and instead of receiving compassion and adequate care, she was castigated, harassed, and pushed further into meltdown. It was in 2007 that Britney very publicly hit rock bottom, shaved her head, and beat a paparazzi’s car with his umbrella. The documentary, “Framing Britney Spears” is a must watch, which properly recounts this unfolding. Britney’s marriage to Kevin Federline lasts from 2004 – 2006, which directly corresponds with period of her life in which her progressed ascendant conjoined her natal Pluto.

The progressed ascendant’s alignment with Pluto is a once in a lifetime configuration (and many people won’t even see this aspect). Pluto can correspond with abuse, manipulation and violation of personhood or purity. In Britney’s case, it corresponds with the sunny Sagittarian pop-star’s downward spiral to the shadow realms – the underworld – where one is stripped of jewels and fancy adornments. Once a luminous pop queen, and now the hitting an all-time personal low when she is committed to the psych ward. Her lost her custodial rights (Pluto re Persephone’s abduction), she was stripped of everything, castigated and reframed as derelict. It was a total hellish nightmare.

At its core, Pluto deals with power. This series of desperate events leads to the usurping of Britney’s estate, rights and autonomy by her sadistic father. Very often, Pluto initiations correspond with a process of disempowerment, which can ultimately lead to true empowerment down the line. In Britney’s case, her progressed ascendant’s 3-year conjunction with her natal Pluto seems to have solely manifested as the decline of her immense star power. She lost all autonomy and agency. Everything she worked so hard for was gone. Pluto here represents the sheer manipulation by all who benefit from this medical and judicial malpractice. Pluto also invites our shadow self to bubble up to the surface, revealing the multifaceted layers of our mental and spiritual ailments. Ideally, they arise so that we can heal them and alchemize our lives. Unfortunately, Britney hasn’t been afforded many resources to heal, but instead has been landlocked into a repetitious cycle of abuse.

Fast forward to 2011 when Britney’s estranged father swoops in and convinces a judge to grant the conservatorship. Britney’s progressed Venus stations retrograde at 8°Aquarius. When Venus stations retrograde, major financial and relationship themes often arise in a person’s life. Sadly, Venus is just shy of a conjunction with her natal moon in her 5th house, an aspect which often coincides with fertility, creativity, beauty and joy. We now know the reproductive and romantic limitations placed on Britney’s body – and the very limitations of joy. This is especially crushing knowing that she has a 5th house moon – a Moon which thrives in its heart space, its creative abilities, and perhaps the most heart-wrenching of all: motherhood. The tragedy of being separated from one’s own children would be absolutely devastating for anyone, but especially for a 5th house Moon individual.

Britney’s natal Venus auspiciously conjoins her south node, emphasizing the role in which sexuality, beauty and artistry would play a role in her soul’s development in this lifetime. Who knew that this unfolding would also tell such tale of money! Part of the shock for all of us is Britney’s allowance. Sure, $8k is a lot to you and me, but for someone of her star caliber, it’s insulting. Her natal Venus is well placed in Capricorn, a sign where Venus holds triplicity and incredibly strong, configured to her nodal axis. Natal Venus forms a partile square to Pluto, telling the story of financial manipulation, thievery and deceit. In true Capricorn fashion – Britney grew an empire. This aspect also tells of her incredibly Venusian magnetism, her piercing beauty and her complex relationship dynamics. Pluto’s square to her nodal axis is also a critical force in her evolutionary journey. Part of Britney’s purpose in this lifetime is to understand power. She must reclaim what has been taken from her as she integrates her north node in Cancer. Her north node in Cancer is in the 10th house. Part of her path is learning how to create a career on her own terms that is both emotionally and financially supportive. As a Libra rising, it’s all about finding the balance between home and career, her private and public personas, and the balance between caring for the family unit and professional advancement.

Interestingly, transiting Pluto now forms a conjunction with her natal Venus and south node in Capricorn. Yes, she is experiencing her Pluto square Pluto transit! This is a transit which we will all experience around the age of 40, symbolic of radical self-acceptance. Pluto square Pluto is when we can finally fully accept the conditions of life which we have always wanted to change, but ultimately cannot. Pluto reminds us of or mortal imperfect condition. Death, the great equalizer will one day come for us. It’s time to finally LIVE. This transit presents an opportunity for claiming our power in spite of our raw humanness.

Subsequentially, this is a very important time for Britney to reclaim what has been taken from her. Transiting Pluto conjoins natal Venus, which is Britney’s CHART RULER (Venus rules her Libra ascendant). This once-in-a-lifetime transit represents a total alteration process of the entire life, persona, outlook and agency of a human being. Britney is undergoing a total rebirth of self. After years of entrapment, now is the time she will fight with everything she’s got for a second chance at life. Pluto transits illuminate every little cobweb in the corners, revealing all that we wish to keep hidden. It’s a time of vulnerable emergence for Britney as she comes clean about the prison she’s been living in. Despite her ability to hide these truths in the past, she now feels mortally suffocated and has no choice but to come out with the truth.

This Venus/Pluto theme is not only important in Britney’s natal chart, but it seems to be playing out right now for all of us on the world stage. Britney’s hearing on 6/23/21 corresponded with a Venus/Pluto opposition in Cancer/Capricorn, exactly conjunct her nodal axis. On December 19th, 2021, transiting Venus will station retrograde conjunct Pluto, both planets EXACTLY conjunct Britney’s natal Venus. This celestial shift will exasperate these natal promises in her birth chart. I feel that at this time, Britney’s estate will still be in review somehow. This feels like some sort of renegotiation over her estate. Will she regain financial autonomy? Or will power be transferred to someone other than her father? This entire Venus retrograde will have a complex Plutonian spin to it, and it will likely represent a continuation in Britney’s story.

In 2020, Britney Spears reached her progressed Full Moon at 19°14 Cancer, which conjoins her north node, but it also forms an exact square her natal Saturn. Her first house Saturn corresponds with Britney’s incredible dedication to her artistry, but Saturn in the first house can also represent limitation – either in outlook or somehow feeling physically limited in one’s lived reality. This can show up in various ways over the course of a lifetime, but recently, it’s manifested for Britney as literal confinement. This also manifests as tiredness. She has admitted that she is currently too exhausted from fighting to continue to perform.

Similar to Britney’s progressed new moon, this progressed full moon is also an eclipse! We also saw this eclipse degree repeated in 2020. Remember that 2020 is when the Free Britney movement began!!!

Currently, Britney’s progressed Sun separates from an exact square with her natal Saturn – a confrontation with her controlling father. As the progressed Sun continues to distance itself from Saturn, I believe it will become easier to liberate herself. Britney’s progressed Midheaven separates from an exact opposition from her Moon, illuminating this personal battle which she has kept private for many years, perhaps due to shame, denial or fear. In December 2021, Britney’s progressed Moon in Leo will trine her natal Sun in Sagittarius (with reception) from the 11th house of Good Fortune; this looks like it could be very fortuitous for Britney. In February, her progressed Moon will oppose her natal Moon, perhaps bringing everything into full view. Will Britney finally be free to tell her full uncensored side of the story? March 2, 2022 is when transiting Venus will finally clear her shadow and align with her natal Venus once and for all after a harrowing trip to the underworld. Perhaps this is when Britney’s tell-all exclusive will air!

Between June and December of 2021, the transiting south node aligns with Britney’s Sagittarius stellium, namely of her Sun, Mercury and Uranus (Neptune is also in Sagittarius but later in degree and further away from these planets). The south node invites release. Old conceptualizations of self are ready to retire with the south node’s transit to the Sun. It’s also why Britney feels so depleted, but this symbolism also could represent a diminishment of her father’s stranglehold on her life. In the third house, it’s also talking about her siblings, namely her brother who continues to benefit from Britney’s imprisonment.

As the south node conjoins with Mercury in early September, this could represent a period where old legal contracts subside. Mercury rules Britney’s 9th house of law, and her 12th house of confinement. Mercury was also the recipient of a partile (to the minute) lunar eclipse on May 26th at 5°26’ Sagittarius. Lunar eclipses often bring matters to light in a pivotal way. Britney has gone on record stating that she didn’t know that she could challenge the conservatorship. I’m guessing that this lunar eclipse helped empower her to move toward overturning these rulings. I would also bet that all the recent eclipse and retrograde action in Gemini, Britney’s 9th house, also helped her bring all of these matters into question again. As the south node conjoins Mercury in early September, it also activates the eclipse degree. I bet this will represent a highly significant development regarding Britney’s legal matters.

Finally, the south node will conjoin Britney’s natal Uranus in December 2021. Will this be a symbolic breaking of the chains? It could, but it could also temporarily feel like more restraint. As the south node diminishes, and Uranus represents freedom, it could represent a sense that freedom is so close, and that the current order is all that much more oppressive. This is also around the time that Venus retrograde begins, and as we mentioned, that retrograde will be a very big deal for Britney’s financial, familial and romantic life – as well as her total personhood.

Overall, we can say with confidence that this is a huge time in Britney’s life, and from my astrological POV, it looks like now is the time that Britney will finally reclaim what was taken from her and begin to rebuild her life. The truth is all coming out now, and I am 100% rooting for her triumph!
