Reclaiming Connection - Week of April 3rd - 10th
It's officially Aries season, isn't it? The daffodils are in full bloom and the trees are beginning to bud. I don't know about you, but I've been super amplified these past couple weeks (hello cardinal fire sign). Last week, I launched a 12-week Foundations course with a whole new group of astrology students, which is always such a beautiful thrill. I also launched my Patreon, which unveiled two new-ish offerings: Moonrise is a monthly meetup focused around the new and full moons and where they are occurring in your chart, and Cauldron is a monthly chart synthesis group for astrology students. You can check those offerings out on Patreon, as well as two other tiers with all kinds of perks choose from. Whew!
As I've mentioned before, Aries season represents the primal ignition which invites us to take a leap of faith and see what happens later. It is a season for launching. It is a season for allowing impulse to bring more adventure to our lives. It's a time of excitement. We have this one life— why not take a chance and truly live?
This week, Mercury adds momentum to the forward throttle when they join the Aries brigade. Plus, we have a super auspicious alignment of Venus and Mars which I cannot wait to fill you in on...

Mercury in Aries
Like a spitfire, Mercury hurls into Aries on April 3rd at 11:41 pm ET. Communication becomes hella direct. Blunt. Concise. Words slide off the tongue confidently and effortlessly. It’s about to get louder in here. Mercury in Aries can be a little rude as well because we’re all more impatient these days. Don’t like being interupted? Come out with it faster. So say it straight, be honest. Don’t worry about perfection, just make it authentic. Mercury will sprint through passionate Aries until April 19th, so enjoy it while you can!
Venus sextile Mars
What looks like a minor sextile between our relationship planets is actually a major event. Venus and Mars are our relationship planets - the planets of love and war. When they are connecting and getting along, life is sweeter. When they are making challenging aspects, our social and romantic lives may experience a bit of strain. Due to retrograde motion, Mars and Venus only made a single harmonious aspect throughout all of 2020. The rest of their contacts were made through challenging squares and an opposition. This is super rare. There were two occasions where Mars and Venus almost connected by harmonious aspect, but before the aspect could perfect, one of the lovers slowed their roll, slowing to a halt and stationing retrograde while the other journeyed on. You can check out my article "Missed Connections," or my appearance on Astrology Hub to get more deets on why 2021 is the rebound year!
Back in April of 2020, Venus was in Gemini and Mars was in Aries and they chased each other the entire month to no avail. It reminds me of the couples forced to quarantine separately, waiting hoping for the clearance to connect — or that second date that never happened. It reminds me of how we held out the green light to gather, but restrictions grew tighter and eventually we let go. One year later, the planets have switched signs and finally get to finish what they started. The weddings are happening, the retreats, the traveling, everything is coming back! As this aspect perfects on April 6th at 7:18 am ET, it should feel like we've come full circle. Sort of. The planets were positioned more favorably last year, which certainly reflects the certain degree of restraint we still need to maintain at this time.
Overall, this is a harmonious aspect, opening the gate to reconnect with the next layer of friends outside of our immediate circle. It's beautiful how this aspect corresponds with the increased availability of vaccines, and the arrival of spring! The vibe of this duo definitely feels like a readiness for a good time! Ready to get rowdy, plan some outings (maybe some mischief) and play!
Mars square Neptune
We thought we were totally in the clear from the fog, but as it turns out, not quite yet. Exact on 4/9 at 3:18 pm ET, Mars square Neptune is a wanderlust aspect. The grass looks so much greener over there! This would be the time to impulsively book a vacation and get out of dodge for a moment. The juggling act of Mars in Gemini starts to become slightly stupifying. It's as if you’ve had this nice juggle going, but then you see a shiner set of bowling pins you'd like to try. Know what's in your wheelhouse and resist the urge to take on more just because of how glamourous it looks. This could also represent a period of burnout. The New Moon occurs tomorrow, and typically, new moon periods are times of lower energy. It's time to rest, rechartge and reflect. Perhaps the best use of this energy is a healthy dose of escaping to your own alcove and binging a couple movies. It’s nice to feel inspired by other possibilities for your life, but don’t discount all the beauty you’ve worked so hard to cultivate right before you.
