Mars enters Gemini + Week of February 28th - March 6th

Galactic Greetings!

The week kicks off with a buzz in the afterglow of the Virgo Full Moon. Full Moons are typically active periods where we find ourselves more extraverted than usual. Yes, this is a week to turn up! We can expect the remainder of the week to ride this particularly outspoken, boisterous breeze.

Astrologers everywhere are characterizing 2021 by the Saturn/Uranus square, however there are other important layers here. As demonstrated by the lunar nodes and a predominance of air aspects, this year carries pronounced themes of learning. We are unlearning the old ways while opening up to new paradigms of understanding. The north node in Gemini brings new words and updated language into the zeitgeist, while the internet’s Saturn return presents us with a wave of difficult lessons pertaining to how we function in the technological age. Much dialogue abounds on how we might use this tool more responsibly and set appropriate limits for how we engage online. All that talk about boundaries?  We’re going to see more of it circling the sphere of tech.

Many folks are referring to this critical period as a “great reset.” Look at what this pandemic is doing to our social lives, education and tech (three major pillars of the air element). This week, we’ll start seeing planetary emphasis gear toward the sign of Gemini – a brainy yet mischievous sign, bursting with curiosity, whimsical pursuit and the ability to see a situation from multiple angles without accepting any of them as absolute.

Winds of change, here we come.

Astrology Watch:

Mars enters Gemini (3/3)

Mercury conjoins Jupiter (3/4)

Sun square Lunar Nodes (3/5)

Mars enters Gemini:

When I think about Mars’ shift from steady Taurus into excitable Gemini, I hear Prince’s singing “Let’s go crazy.” Mars is in Gemini from 3/3 – 4/23 – and during this period, our energy is prone to scatter. Easily intrigued, we grow curious and increasingly restless, as we reach for more and more projects to tinker with. If you’re feeling bored, this transit can provide plenty of stimulus. We’ll be eager to do “all the things” while Mars is in Gemini, so we can benefit from a mindfulness not to disperse our energy too much. Otherwise, we risk that classic Gemini anxiousness. Try to have a few different projects in the juggle, and make sure some of them are purely for fun! Gemini functions optimally when it has a trifecta of projects to keep the mind curious, the fingers agile and to keep things interesting.

Maybe it’s the sunshine,

Maybe it’s Mars moving into Gemini.

Attention nerdy astrology students! There are some notable points in Mars’ sojourn through Gemini to watch for: Mars will hover near the north node of destiny at the end of March. This alignment is notoriously tricky. It could indicate a period of unrest, increased destruction, violence and upsets in the world. We’ll also want to watch for the healing that arrives when Mars squares Neptune and sextiles Venus in early April. More on these aspects as they arrive closer on the horizon.

One way to hone planets in Gemini is to learn! Curious to learn more about astrology? I’d love for you to join our 12 Week Course, Foundations of Astrology launching 3/24!

Mercury conjunct Jupiter:

On March 4th, Mercury makes its final conjunction with lord of hype, Jupiter. Aligning with opinionated Jupiter has been a reoccurring theme throughout Mercury’s retrograde. An outspoken, socially conscious aspect generous with the signal boosts, this aspect is capable of generating some serious capital for a good cause. Huge congratulations to Mercury’s Brood for more than DOUBLING your fundraising goal. If you haven’t heard of Mercury’s Brood– an up-and-coming astrological publication geared toward spotlighting new + marginalized voices in astrology, you’ll def want to give them a follow and lend your support.

Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Aquarius has been brilliant for problem-solving and generating ideas to propel us forward. Since the new moon on 2/11, we have been offered plenty of opportunities for creativity. Whatever it is you’re cooking up, this aspect can provide additional insights – or offer the final puzzle piece you needed to solidify the new idea. As I mentioned on my Instagram page with the second Mercury/Jupiter conjunction, dare to dream BIG. With Saturn copresent in Aquarius, it’s impossible to imagine out of your range. Anything you can visualize for yourself right now is 100% attainable. Saturn will always offer the subtle reminders we need about our practical boundaries – and show us how to work around them.

This is a time of choices. At this critical halfway point between eclipse seasons, this is often seen as a turning point. We might see pivotal events on the world stage, or we might be making significant choices in our lives (especially if mutable signs rule the angles in your chart, or if you are a Gemini or a Sagittarius). As the fate of former tv personality, DT has yet to be decided, we will likely see developments in this story around March 5th when this aspect becomes exact. The last eclipse season corresponded with his obsessive attempts to challenge the popular vote, creating doubt of the democratic process in the minds of his followers. Because the Sun deals with leadership, we may also see significant developments for President Joe Biden or other world leaders.

Congruently on this day, the Moon arrives in a conjunction with the south node in Sagittarius. The last time the Moon passed over this node was ROUGH on the world of astro-twitter. Maybe you’ve been seeing it in your world too? We’re looking at themes of gate-keeping, know-it-all’s, finger-pointing and a defensive willingness to die on a hill. The Moon activates a newly ingressed Mars in Gemini before spiraling into the abyss of the south node, so I’d put my money on chaos with this one! Overall, bright lights will be extinguished while others will have the option to rise toward prominence. We can expect to see some important shifts at this time.

And that’s your weekly astro report! May you arm yourself with cosmic knowledge to be more prepared for what’s ahead!

With reverence,

Catherine
