Chasing the Dragon: A prolonged Mars-Neptune Square + the Aries Full Moon
Galactic Greetings Beauties,
It’s been a month of travelling for astrology conferences and catching up with the essentials of my work in between. As a result, I have not offered a written update here on my blog in over a month! Both the ISAR conference and The Astrology Gathering in Lily Dale were beyond nourishing – two very different conferences, but each filled with brilliant astrologers and connection. Since returning, I have entered into my 12H profection year, and don’t see myself attending any more astrological events for the coming year (I’m having a baby in February!). HOwever, my bucket has fortunately been filled this Fall.
We’ve got some MAJOR astrology incoming this month – Let’s get into it!
Astrology Watch:
Mercury Direct, 10/2
Pluto Direct, 10/8
Aries Full Moon, 10/9
Mercury enters Libra, 10/10
Mars square Neptune, 10/11
Venus trine Saturn, 10/13
Mercury Direct 10/2
Hooray! Mercury concludes their retrograde today, stationing direct at 5:07 am ET at 24°13’ Virgo. But before we eagerly sign that dotted line, pause. Those stereotypical “Mercury retrograde” antics tend to uptick near the station – and especially this one – with its opposition to dizzying Neptune, who disseminates a hypnotic glittery fog of wishful thinking. An extra dose of discernment can assist us in our planning this week. Meanwhile, lean into Mercury’s opposition with Neptune for creativity, imaginative play and catching up on zzzz’s. The sleepy, stoner fog of Neptune will linger for another week or so, so plan accordingly (if you can!)
Pluto Direct 10/8
Calling all grave diggers, shadow-workers and crypt keepers: Pluto is stationing direct at 26°07’ Capricorn, never to return to this degree again in our lifetimes (or possibly the next). On a personal level, Pluto’s station evokes an eerie intensity, urging us to dig deeper within ourselves. Pluto conjures buried feelings, psychological ghosts, and the potency of our shadow who welcomes the real work of transfiguration. Pluto reminds us of all we have overcome in this journey through life – as well as sludge we currently wade through. If you are currently in the thick of a Pluto transit to your natal chart, you may experience Pluto’s station as a revelatory catalyst.
Between the Pluto station and an illuminating Full Moon in Aries, much perspective emerges from the cobwebs this weekend.
Pluto now lurches toward the final exact “hit” of the United States Pluto Return (12/28/22 at 27°32’ Capricorn). Indeed, this massive national uprooting is still ongoing – exposing the rot both past and present.
Aries Full Moon 10/9
The Aries Full Moon ripens at 16°32’ Aries (exact at 4:54 pm ET), in the heart of Libra season, offering the counterbalance of fearless individuality amidst the accommodating scales. The Aries Full Moon is dynamic, energetic and puts us in the mood to take a chance! It’s also here to remind us of our own unique journey toward selfhood. We’ve each blazed our own path of trial and error, discovery and healing. Think back: would you really have it any other way?
The Full Moon conjoins Divine Outcast, Chiron, the centaur who dared to be himself. Chiron’s journey toward selfhood cultivated a wisdom so revered that we went on to mentor and heal thousands.
The Aries Full Moon is ruled by Mars in Gemini, introducing us to a theme which will inform both October and November: Mars’ prolonged square to Neptune. Easily bored, this configuration induces wanderlust – a chasing of the magic dragon, if you will, where the grass is always greener elsewhere. This divine discontent is generated from the remembrance of a missing magic spark in our lives.
The Aries Full Moon is the official embarking on this journey to reclaim something essential to our spirit.
Mercury enters Libra 10/10
Mercury returns to Libra, a favorite place for the messenger planet. We have been working with Mercury in Libra since 8/25, pre-retrograde. Almost two months of Mercury in Libra chides us to improve those communication skills. No doubt, with a thematic opposition to opinionated Jupiter in Aries, the challenge will be: How to speak your truth while remaining tactful. There is an art to diplomacy; there is an art to captivating your audience with an inspirational message; there is an art to masterminding solutions which everyone can get on board with. We are all in for a good debate with this one!
Notice how this last stretch of Mercury in Libra helps us to refine those communication strategies even more.

Venus trine Saturn 10/13
One of our final air trines to Saturn – and a most gorgeous one at that. Excellent for remodeling, forging relationships, defining virtues of a relationship, clarity of concepts, orchestrating music, curating a design, sending a creation into the kiln, or making jewelry. It would also be perfect for any rituals designed to preserve beauty. This aspect brings clarity and constructiveness to relationships. Enjoy!
