Solar Eclipse in Gemini + Mercury Cazimi - The Week of June 6th - 12th

Interstellar Greetings!

I hope the eclipses are treating you well so far this season! We do not have a ton of astrological aspects to report on this week, but we do have some very important celestial events to dissect. This time around we’re going with quality over quantity on this one. Let’s get into it!

Astrology Watch

Ceres conjunct Uranus, 6/9

Solar Eclipse, 19°47’ Gemini, 6/10

Mercury Cazimi, 6/10

Mars enters Leo, 6/11

Ceres conjunct Uranus, 6/9

While Uranus has travelled through Taurus, we have seen several innovations in the realms of farming, sustainable energy, and plant-based meat imitation proteins. We’ve also seen wild, futuristic leaps in the realms of finance, most notably with the popularization of crypto currency. On 6/9, Ceres will align with Uranus in Taurus, potentially emphasizing such culinary themes and cultivation of the land. Why? Ceres is the goddess of the harvest, nourishment and very often corresponds with either surplus or famine.

While Ceres doesn’t fit into the essential dignity schema, we can bet that Taurus is a fine place for her to reside. Grounded, earthy and luxurious, Taurus is the place of the Moon’s exaltation – our modern symbol for nourishment and self-care. Ceres is one of the primordial divine mother archetypes. Inherent in Ceres myth is also the idea of nature, cycles, grief, search, discovery and rebirth. It’s believed that psychedelics were involved in the Elusinian rites, a secret society now lost to the sands of time. I’m guessing that as Ceres aligns with Uranus in Taurus, we may see some stories brewing around food, farming and how to sustain peoples from the land – but also around the healing integration of plant medicines, and cohabitating with the earth in a sustainable, symbiotic methods of living. It’s vital to all life forms that humans change our wasteful and destructive ways.

It’s also important to note that Ceres will hereby activate the Saturn-Uranus square. Access to nutrition is absolutely a symptom of the larger late-stage-capitalistic framework. I’ve heard many folks critique the government this year for not spreading more awareness about immune health during a global pandemic. “Why don’t more people just take supplements?” In order to crest that issue, we need to combat a much larger issue: poverty.

I wonder if Ceres’ alignment with Uranus in Taurus could highlight the intersection between living wages, the food industry and our collective ability to adequately nourish ourselves. If the Saturn-Uranus square describes revolutionizing the framework for how we live, a great place to start is the dinner table.

Solar Eclipse Gemini, 19°47’ Gemini + Mercury Cazimi, 6/10

A solar eclipse in Gemini square Neptune suggests a need for deviation. Specifically, it highlights a collective need to open our minds to more possibilities for our lives - beyond a “black and white” terrain of maximum polarity. When it comes down to it, there is much more variation among realities than we may have been conditioned to believe.

While solar eclipses are usually event related – bringing sudden change in the world around us, shuffling the deck and perhaps even aligning us with fresh (and dare I say, destined) opportunities – this particular eclipse should offer potent and pivotal insights regarding the Gemini area of our charts. This particular house has been under major renovation since May 2020 with Venus retrograde, the eclipses and now, Mercury retrograde. Neptune had a lot of say, creating ideal scenarios and also inundating us with a myriad of other factors we’ve had difficulty comprehending fully. Until now.

Mercury’s cazimi arrives within hours of the solar eclipse, integrating piercing awareness around what our fresh blueprint will look like moving forward. Illusions shatter, making way for alignment with potential, curiosity, innovation and learning. The sign of Gemini reminds us that we are never done learning and we’ll never have all the answers. There are infinite pathways of perception in the mind, and therefore there are too many variables to consider. Understanding this principle takes the edge off and allows us to relax, be playful and to make light of it all. Who the fuck knows and who cares? Let’s have fun while we are here. Mars swims at the anaretic degree of Cancer during this time, signaling an important completion. Perhaps an old defense mechanism has served its purpose and is ready for release.

The solar eclipse in Gemini conjoins its planetary ruler, Mercury, domiciled in Gemini. Mercury is also retrograde and preparing for their purification ritual within the heart of the sun. In the middle of every single Mercury retrograde, we reach this pinnacle eye-of-the-storm moment of clarity amidst the chaos. This particular Mercury retrograde features an extended square with dysphoric Neptune, breeding more options and possibilities and variables than we even know what to do with. It can all feel a bit disorienting and overwhelming. Perhaps we are not meant to possess definitive answers at this time. Instead, our job is to remain curious, open and in a receptive space of wonder… it’s eclipse season; truly anything can happen.

If nothing eventful occurs for you on this day, not to worry. Eclipses arrive with an inherent echo chamber, reverberating their transformative and illuminating effects for months to come. Look out for the beginning and the middle of July to be particularly eventful (especially for mutable and fixed signs), as Mars will trigger both the Saturn/Uranus square and the eclipses.

Mars enters Leo, 6/11

Following in the footsteps of an illuminating solar eclipse and Mercury cazimi, Mars is ready to put a fresh foot forward. These eclipses may have been especially eye-opening and Mars’ readiness to change signs is reflective of this ongoing personal alchemy. Mars gets a big upgrade at this time, concluding their travels through Cancer, the sign of their fall, and entering regal, dynamic, passionate Leo. This planetary shift will help us grab the reigns of our life and instigate the primal fire in our bellies. While Mars in Leo is certainly going to heat things up, there are a few obstacles which lay ahead.

Mars in Leo is competitive, passionate and can put on airs. While Mars in Leo is extremely generous and affectionate, this placement does not like to be wrong. We may have to wrangle with a certain degree of pride during this transit, especially as Mars nears an opposition with Saturn. We cannot always be right, and sometimes we need to come down a notch. Mars in Leo will highlight righteousness. Pick your battles though. What’s in your heart is what’s worth fighting for.

Mars will eventually gaslight the Saturn-Uranus square, igniting ongoing socio-political issues. This aspect is here to remind us that there is still so much more work to be done. Mars may instigate another call for action.

Fixed signs, listen up! I know you’re feeling a little stuck right now. I know that you’re scared to make that one brave leap because it may compromise the security that you’re accustomed to - and because you’re unsure how it will work out. But Mars is here to instigate. By the end of the month, Mars will have poked you inch by inch, closer to your edge. You might feel like you’re nearing a breaking point during this time. This pressure is purposeful, urging you closer to discovering even more possibilities for your life.

May your week be illuminating +

May the stars shine ever in your favor,

Catherine
