Scorpio Season Begins! October 20th - November 3rd

Hello Friends!

Mercury retrograde in my 4th house continues to breed chaos with the kitchen renovation. Fortunately, the weather has been on our side to continue making quesadillas in the garage and washing dishes in the driveway. However, today the temp officially dropped and it’s lit a fire to GET IT DONE!

Other exciting projects underway? I will be speaking at NCGR’s online Symposium, The Saturn-Uranus Square: Bridging Tradition with Innovation, which will be presented live from November 5th - November 7th. It’s a true honor to be speaking alongside so many astrological legends, as well as brilliant up and coming colleagues! Hope to see you all there!

Scorpio Season begins! 10/22

The Sun enters Scorpio on 10/23 at 12:51 am, departing from the sign of its fall, Libra. While I’d normally call this an upgrade, it’s strange to write that the Sun enjoys being in a sign fixated upon the shadows. That said, we all need a torch to navigate the obscured trenches of the cavern. The Scorpion lives in the arid desert, and yet, the arachnid thrives within the shadows. Scorpio season is the time of year in which the veil between worlds becomes paper thin. I personally find a profound connection with Hekate during Scorpio season, the goddess of the crossroads. As the leaves fall with quickness, the wind howls and the earth becomes cold and damp, we are reminded that death and endings is an integral aspect of the natural wheel. It’s the breakdown of last year’s crops which cultivates the fecundity of new life in the spring (Taurus season, the sign opposite of Scorpio). Hekate governs big life transitions. Death will come for us all – not just at the end of our mortal existence, but in the leaving of a job, the ending of a relationship, the ending of a subconscious pattern, the termination of a tradition. In death, we find new life. This does not mean that endings are ever easy, however.

Scorpio season highlights loyalty, fierce determination, dedication and the necessity of trust. Scorpios are revered for their tenacity, their enduring will to overcome – to not only survive, but to thrive. The Scorpion is a fixed water sign known for its intense emotions – and yet, our water creature exists in the desert where water is preciously rare. It’s a good thing that Scorpio understands how to endure hardship, how to survive on little until the goal is clinched. Scorpio indeed has a penchant for the finer things, but it’s because of the muck they have so tenaciously endured. Blessed with a fixed, piercing gaze, Scorpio knows how to keep their eye on the prize.

Some highlights we can expect this Scorpio season? Eclipse season begins! We’ll have a lunar eclipse on 11/19 conjunct fixed star Algol aka the Medusa star, which will kick of the start of a new 18 month cycle in which the eclipses will overtake the Taurus-Scorpio polarity with fullness. We still have one last eclipse in Sagittarius, by the way, which will occur on 12/4. Mercury regains speed and becomes the biggest celestial busybody of the zodiac this month, reuniting with Mars (throwing it back to their pre-retrograde conjunction in Virgo). We will also witness several oppositions from Scorpio planets to the revolutionary Uranus, kicking off with the Scorpio New Moon on 11/4.

Venus square Neptune 10/26 + Venus sextile Jupiter 10/28

Riding the Rainbow: Venus in Sagittarius never wants the party to end. There’s so much more to discover! In a spiritually satiating square to Neptune, Venus in Sag snuggles up to a sweet spot of philosophical meandering, whimsical adventures, invigorating exploration of sensual discovery and yes – getting oh so high – and I mean the rainbow in the waterfall on top of the mountain kind of high. Transcendence. Do we ever have to come down? Can’t we just stay here? A temptation to overcommit to the call to adventure persists. Venus sextiles Jupiter, where the penchant for excess is hard to resist. We deserve it. We should treat ourselves. And I hope you will eagerly fill your cup, because soon, Saturn will call our feet back to earth. Very soon.

Sun square Saturn, 10/29

An inconvenient truth

One of the gifts of Saturn in Aquarius is clarity, however, the truths we face are not necessarily comfortable. But it’s necessary to see. We will feel the Sun’s square to Saturn both in our personal lives, but we will also see this aspect play out on the world stage. Many of us are now familiar the with 2021 defining configuration of the Saturn-Uranus square. As the Sun squares off with Saturn, it will progress forward into the zodiac until it arrives in an exact opposition with Uranus on 11/4. Indeed, the Scorpio New Moon finds itself in this exact opposition to Uranus, activating and engaging the Saturn-Uranus square into our next lunation. This will certainly prove to be exciting, and yes, stressful, as Uranus is the planet of sovereignty, rebellion and ceiling-smashing. As I write this forecast, there is a massive grassroots labor movement with thousands of workers on strike. I see this movement continuing to build. But before the molatav cocktails are thrown, Saturn will have their say – presenting the issues which urgently call our focus and attention. The time is now to act.

The Sun’s square to Saturn shows us where we must step up to steward new structures in our lives. It’s a call toward self-actualization, doing the “hard” but rewarding thing to evoke change in our lives. May the clarity be kind and inspire you to construct something more beautiful and supportive in your life.

Mars in Scorpio 10/30 - 12/13

Mars enters its nocturnal domicile. With both malefics at home in their domiciles, shields up, witches! This condition designates an emblem of protection, safety and a time of erring on the side of caution. Holding the knowledge that things could always be worse, we resolve to protect the sanctity of what is most sacred to us. This is a time to question, doubt and to proceed with caution. We must reserve our energy toward staving off the threats. With Jupiter already occupying a Saturn-ruled sign and Venus soon joining Capricorn, both benefics will soon join the defense-party as well. As we near eclipse season, this certainly forbodes defending something vital and sacred.

Overall, Mars in Scorpio is indeed a fierce placement, but it’s stealthy. Maybe we will channel Mars in Scorpio toward fighting oppression, affecting change in our workplace and fighting for better pay. But maybe we can also channel it other places. Mars in Scorpio understands that it only has one good shot. We move steadily, passionately and with intent focus through the shadows, where our plan of attack is not perceived by others. To be occulted is to protect and preserve its power. The aim of Mars in Scorpio is understood by a privileged few. Mars in Scorpio can be optimally chanelled for behind the scenes projects which may not be ready to be appreciated (or critiqued) by others. Not just yet. Stealthy, tenacious and calculated, right now, the focus just feels private.

Mercury Strikes Gold! 11/1 + 11/2

Even though Mercury retrograde ended two weeks ago, Mercury finally concludes the retrograde story with their third square to Pluto on 11/2 and their final of three trines to Jupiter on 11/1. I’ve written extensively about this (9/20 and 9/22, 10/1, and 10/3), so for the final overview, you’ll have to catch my YouTube video!

On that note, you can catch a video version for each of my forecasts, which tend to offer a slightly different version from the written forecast!

Hope to see you at the NCGR Symposium next week!

Big Blessings,

Catherine
