Galactic Greetings,

This week, we have a new moon on Imbolc, the cross-quarter holy day between the winter solstice and the spring equinox which represents the increasing return of the light. By now, you will notice that the days are noticeably lengthening. Imbolc translates to “in the belly,” symbolic of mother nature’s pregnancy with new life (tho not anatomically correct).

Imbolc is the first of three pagan fertility holidays, the second is the equinox, when we see the first shoots of spring piercing forth, and the third is Beltane, when nature is abundant, fertile and in full bloom. Imbolc promises the eventual return of those very blossoms. We light candles, calling back the summer light, calling in the lengthening of days to thaw the frozen ground. As the Sun lingers longer each day, the earth slowly reawakens, life stirring beneath the surface, in the chalice of Gaia.

A new moon on this day feels quite auspicious, as if the blossoms of spring will be all the more spectacular. Indeed, with the fertile, abundant and celebratory aspects of April, I agree that this is an abundant time to dream, visualize and set our intentions for the spring we will blossom into.

Imbolc New Moon, 2/1/22, 12°19’ Aquarius

Get excited! This is a very special new moon indeed. Saturn’s stay in Aquarius spans from March 2020 – March 2023, yet this is the only Aquarius New Moon which aligns in an exact conjunction with Saturn, which also happens to be the ruler of Aquarius. In other words, during this 3-year time span, Saturn is helping us to do some major restructuring in this area of our life – bringing stress-tests of maturity and growth, to discern what’s in our capacity to actualize and increase our general know-how. Now that Saturn has had some time to get comfortable in the Aquarius sector of our charts, this new moon presents a significant period of renewing our commitment to our goals in this area of life. This new moon is a period of intentional seed-planting. Saturn in Aquarius is here to help us get super clear on further renovation plans from here on out!

With four planets in Capricorn and all planets moving direct, we are ready to fly forward! And in true Saturnian nature, our intention is measured, focused and purposeful. We have waited patiently, played our hand strategically, and now, after careful observation we are ready to make some moves. Mercury stations Direct, 2/3/22, 24°22’ Capricorn

At last! All planets are officially moving direct for the next 12 weeks! Time is about to speed up, and spring will be here before we know it. After a deeply restorative January (with retrograde Mercury and Venus and a peregrine Mars), we are ready to fly!

But before we get too excited, remember that the Mercury drama isn’t quite over yet. We can still expect the typical Mercury retrograde shenanigans to pop off for the next couple of days as Mercury pauses in the sky. Furthermore, the fleet-footed messenger continues to hold court in the underworld through 2/14. Mercury will continue to offer potent realizations, deep investigation, alchemy of perception and synthesis of truth. So much has been reshuffled and in question for us over the past month – and while we still might not have all the answers, we are at least in a space of readiness to continue the forward journey.   

Mars sextile Jupiter, 2/4/22

Ooh-la-la now here’s a slice of cake transit we love to see! Soulful Jupiter in Pisces lends its divine inspiration into the capable, purposeful hands of Mars – fastidiously focusing on a new aim. This combination is fiercely creative. Like a locomotive, Mars is exalted in Capricorn, offering us a steady flow of can’t-stop-won’t-stop energy – but it is also in the terms of optimistic Jupiter, encourages us to keep moving closer and closer to our vision. This celestial combination offers a “dream-actualization” potion – but – you must intentionally tap in to squeeze the most out of it.
