Ecstatic Heartbeat - Week of March 7-13, 2021
Have you ever woken from a dream which imprinted you with its vivid yet cryptic imagery for the duration of the day? You might even recall glimpses of those particular dreams presently. I often wonder what makes certain dreams more memorable, while the majority of them are so fleeting - slipping past the waking mind's eye like smoke in the wind. I believe lucid dreams are a gift from the spirit realm. With how busy our minds get, the spirit world finds creative ways to snag our attention. This week’s transits guide us through the dreamy, transcendant cloudscape of Neptune land. Neptune is one of the planets that can transport us beyond the moon, beyond the clouds, and beyond the sea of stars to infinity. And sometimes, it's a synthetic drug, hoodwinking us into believing we ingested some sort of magical red pill. Surely we can see the truth now.
Neptune is all about illusion. And we get a dilauted dose of it this week. We can expect to ride a range of ecstatic spiritual highs to simple grogginess, and a desire to teleport far, far away from the infatecimal problems plaguing this planet. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the weight of the world with transits like these. Neptune can also soften us. This is a time for o-p-e-n-i-n-g, overflowing with empathy, merging compassionate hearts and selflessness. I see mandates and boundaries beginning to loosen across the country as vaccines become more widely distributed and covid numbers decrease.
Life is all about perspective. Magic is everywhere, but it's up to us to recognize it. Where energy goes, energy flows. Neptune is here to help us envision a reality beyond our wildest dreams.
Let's get squishy.

Sun conjunct Neptune:
Even a solid 8 hours of sleep won’t feel like it was enough. Dreams become more vivid, we sleep deeper and it’s just harder to wake up when the Sun conjoins Neptune. Spacy, groggy, or more tired than usual, you’ll be tempted to reach for an extra coffee this week. This is a great time to let your creative right brain lead. Intellect may not be our sharpest asset this week. No. But the heart is the magic key that opens all the doors. Slowing down allows us to be more recpetive to the symbols, signs, and magic number sequences on the clock. Spirit has messages for us.
You are timeless. Your soul is infinite. Feel that today.
You have lived multiple lifetimes in various circumstances. I am you, you are me. Neptune dissolves the things that confine and define. It asks of us to noice the interconnectedness of all, to contemplate the higher realms of which we have no definite knowledge - only an inner knowing. Who are we when we cease quantification of our lives? We are so, so much more than a number.
The Sun conjunct Neptune reminds us of our infinity. Simultaneously, it can also create a sublime disappointment. That despite our potential as a species, the world is in a seemlingly endless loop of pain. We are one, and yet, we are separate. We long for liberation from this cycle. Which is why escapism is often attributed to Neptune. So if you find yourself desiring to stay comfy, shut off your phone, smoke a fatty and binge the StarWars trilogy, this is probably an ideal way to honor this transit.
Venus conjunct Neptune:
Already floating on an ocean of oxytocin, Venus in Pisces crests the most intense waves of the heart this week. Love - it will make you, or it can break you. Which is why so many of us harden after a heartbreak. It’s self-preservation. But at some point, we learn that we are missing out. This is a week where you will chance the opening. Vulnerability is a courageous act.
Wild abandon. We bow on the threshold of soul love, where egos are sacrificed in the name of forgiveness - where pain is understood as a byproduct of blindness, and the deep knowing that we should love anyway. Sometimes, love means letting go. Venus conjunct Neptune can trick us into idol worship - where we attach to the possibility of another human being. This is your reminder that we are all flawed. No one can save you, and your love story is what you make it. Release the impossible expectation of perfection in the flesh.
Venus/Neptune is ideal for music, scenery, meditation, prayer, devotion, divination, and on a super mundane level - spending money! We may desire to give generously - or- to adopt all the crystals because of the magical way they glimmered at you!
New Moon, 23°04’ Pisces, 3/13, 5:21 am ET
The Pisces New Moon signifies fertile ground for seedlings of the imagination to sprout. Here in the northern hemisphere, the days lengthen, offering us hope and bright optimism toward the near future. As the ice thaws, a momentous eagerness builds within, alongside a soulful inner knowing of imminent renewal. It feels magical to expect the arrival of something so grand.
The hopeful New Moon in Pisces merges with the dreamy Venus/Neptune conjunction. A potent aphrodisiac indeed. Wherever Pisces rules in our charts, we can fall in love all over again. This lunation will coincide with a significant emphasis on o-p-e-n-i-n-g. We can expect mask mandates to loosen and celebratory reunions abound. Lots and lots of joyful hugs. This will surely mark an emotional, heart opening time. Ruled by expansive Jupiter in mindful Aquarius, we are reminded of the cautions first and given an encouraging nudge to go ahead.
Yes, we should all take advantage of this magical lunation, but here’s the catch: wishful thinking. Venus/Neptune can easily enamor us with an ideal. Of course we are all desperate to reclaim intimacy again. However, Saturn is still in Aquarius for two more years. Boundaries are important. They keep us safe and provide order. We will see some folks abandon strictures altogether. For most of us, the simple act of sitting down at a restaurant will become an ecstatic experience.
The Pisces New Moon is the time to refill our cups - dry from the Saturnian months – with the definite bounty of life – the intangible, infinite love.
May this lunation uplift you and give you hope,
And may Saturn protect you and keep you wise.
Love, Catherine
