Aries New Moon - 4/11/21, 22°24’ Aries

The Aries New Moon is the true launchpad for spring. While new moons always signify potent periods for metaphorcal seed planting in our lives, the Aries new moon is doubly so, as it’s also the time of we start planting actual seeds for the garden. Ruled by Mars, the Roman deity of agriculture, this is the time to perhpas scatter many seeds and see what eventually takes root. Mars is in Gemini, after all, which signifies way too many ideas going on at once. But there’s no pressure, remember to be creative and have fun with it. The Aries New Moon arrives at the midpoint of a tightening trine between Mars and Jupiter. A great deal of eagerness to do everything at once could lead to impulsive leaps. Remember to pace yourself a bit! Mars trine Jupiter creates a ton of ease and it’s easy to say yes to all the opportunities coming your way - but you can just as easily say no! There is a decisive, yet playful energy to this lunation.

However, Venus arrives at an exact square to Pluto on the same day as the new moon. With Venus’ conjunction to the Sun and Moon at the seeding of this new moon, self love is still at the heart of what we are learning here. We’ve been working with the gifts of Venus in Aries now since 3/21, peeling back the complex layers of how we prioritize our own needs. Before Venus returns home to comfortable Taurus on 4/14, we must walk through fire one last time. Like the shadows cast from the fire pit, projections emerge onto our world, our relationships and even into our own mirror. It’s our job to recognize the true shapes beyond their distortion. We’ve all been hurt before, and its so common to subconsciously project our fears of betrayal, unworthiness and abandonment onto others. Venus square Pluto has a powerful way of bringing these shadows to light. In correspondance with the Aries New Moon, it’s time for a fearless fresh start in your life. Vulnerability is an incredibly courageous act.

Venus enters Taurus 4/14

After a long journey trecking through the dessert, Venus reaches the oasis she calls home - a plush bed, a mellow, aromatic bath to soak in and the most delectable charceuterie board imaginable. Yes, it’s time for cake. Venus’ ingress into Taurus invites us to slow the pace and enjoy the scenery for once. After we eagerly piled our plates with the excitement of spring, its time to take a seat under a shady grape vine and graze. While Venus is in Taurus (until 5/8), this is a season of beautification. Arrange your flower beds, get a massage and spend time with the sunset. Resist the urge to rush. Life is better when you’re present enough to savor it. While this week is still very much about tidying up loose ends, once we get to 4/23, it will be much easier to smell those roses.

Sun + Mercury Square Pluto 4/16 + 4/17

Prepare for a bit of discomfort here as Pluto uproots and brings our shadow side to the surface. The few days around this transit offers the space for deep processing, introspection and even researc. Often when our wounds surface like this, there is an opportunity for something to be understood in a new way and even released. Pluto matters are not easy to digest, however, with a willingness to sit with our discomfort, to feel the hurts from the past and allow them to be voiced once more, these transits can be extremely healing via catharsis. It’s better out than in. So if you are feeling moody, enraged or distraught, you are not alone. Power dynamics are also highlighted at this time. There is a deep awareness, even reverence for the power of nature and the forces of life which we cannot fight. But it might also be a stark awareness of where you do not feel the most empowered in your life. This process of investagation can lead to an obsessive desire to remedy. Remember to be gentle with yourself. You are exactly where you need to be.

Mars Trine Jupiter (the entire week!)

Wrapped into the new moon, and actiavted throughout the week by Mercury and the Sun, this aspect provides encouragement and affirmation that you are on the right track. While last week might have created varying degrees of self-doubt or feeling lost, scattered or overwhelmed — it all starts to come together for us this week as be begin to ground down into the earthy energies of Taurus. Mars in Gemini trine Jupiter in Aquarius invites us to share our process with our friends and to call on them for our support - it’s all about communication and the power of the group dynamic. It’s also a great aspect for hyping up your friends and cheering them on. Mars in Gemini has been juggling a lot of tasks, and finally now it feels like its flowing a lot better. Mars trine Jupiter will make you feel like you’re winning! It’s about confidence, discovering joy while you work and finding a flow. The path is clear now. You’ve got this!
